Tipped-in to the third and fourth volumes are five letters to the Royal Navy Board and the Victualling Commissioners, signed by various English military officers who played a role in the American Revolution, including: 1) Letter, signed by Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan, dated March 14, 1797 (third volume, facing p. 117); 2) Autograph letter, signed by Admiral Richard Howe, 1st Earl Howe, dated March 15, 1794 (third volume, facing p. 160); 3) Autograph letter, signed by Vice-Admiral John Byron, dated April 19, 1759 (third volume, facing p. 250); 4) Autograph letter, signed by Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood, "Rec'd 19 Feb. 1794" (fourth volume, facing p. 160); 5) Letter, signed by Admiral George Brydges Rodney, 1st Baron Rodney, dated December 12, 1779 (fourth volume, facing p. 279).
