This painting by Francesco Bassano is directly derived from an earlier picture of the same subject done by his father Jacopo Bassano circa 1563, and now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia, Venice. Another version (this time done by Francesco himself) and which shares the same loose brushwork and attention to color, can also be seen in the Museo Civico in Padua.
