Fragment of a partially-printed ship's passport, signed by James Madison as President; counter-signed by James Monroe, as Secretary of State. Creasing from original folds; chipping and small closed tears along edges. Handsomely framed with portraits of Madison and Monroe, as well as two presidential medallions, 21 1/2 x 25 in. (546 x 635 mm).
