(Washington, D.C.), no date (ca. 1837-41). One sheet, approximately 16 x 20 in. (406 x 508 mm) (sight). Partially-printed and unissued, four-language ship's passport, signed by Martin Van Buren, as President of the United States; counter-signed by Secretary of State John Forsyth; white paper seal intact. Creasing from original folds, small separations in same. Unexamined out of handsome frame, with portrait of Van Buren and presidential medallion, 33 x 27 1/2 in. (838 x 698 mm). A fine example.
