Scipione was overwhelmed with commissions during his lifetime, including orders from the Church of Gonfalone, Rome

Lot 454 is in keeping with his fascination with the romantic and sensuous form of Ancient Greece, a styling the Tadolini family begun with Adamo Tadoline, an assistant to Canova.
