Note

Working in the tradition of an earlier generation of Dutch and Flemish artists who specialized in painting highly ornate still lifes of exotic mixed flowers, such as Jan van Huysum and Jan Philip van Thielen, Eliaerts was one of the premier next generation painters of this highly decorative and refined genre. Working in Paris, he was Professor of the Institute of the Légion d'Honneur at Saint-Denis and exhibited regularly at the Paris Salons. He also created cartoons for the famed Manufacture des Gobelins.
