A Chinese jade carving of a recumbent horse 玉雕卧马
Ming dynasty-early Qing dynasty 明至清初

Carved in light greyish jade with patches of dark brown-black, the horse in a recumbent posture, its face carved with prominent nose and bulging eyes, incised fine lines suggesting mane and the tail, well-articulated hoofs to the underside, with later wood stand; cloth box.

L: 3 1/4 in.
