Michael Hartman serves as the Client Manager for Luxury Goods and Art & Design at Freeman’s. His areas of specialty include twentieth century decorative arts, late nineteenth century works on paper, retail history, and the global luxury goods industry.
Michael joined Freeman’s in 2021. Prior to Freeman’s, he held various roles in the fine art and luxury retail industries over the past two decades. Michael spent twelve years with a Philadelphia-based dealer of nineteenth century art, starting as an assistant and eventually becoming director of the company. He has also worked as an independent art advisor and as a cataloguer and head of sale for a local estate auctioneer. Immediately prior to joining Freeman’s, he was a design specialist at a luxury interiors retailer, where he specialized in managing high-value residential and commercial design projects for clients across the country.
Michael is a graduate of the History of Art department at the University of Pennsylvania, from which he holds a BA, and is also an alumni of the Barnes Foundation.
