As Philadelphia's premier auction house, we are particularly committed to the craftsmanship and artistry of Pennsylvania. We also specialize in single-owner sales and are dedicated to telling each collection's unique story through thoughtful, creative, and customized presentation. Freeman’s also hosts fine auctions in various collecting categories throughout the year:
We work hard to respond to consignment inquiries as quickly as possible, though we may experience a slight delay if we are receiving a high volume of requests. If you do not receive a reply from us within ten business days, please email us at consignments@freemansauction.com.
Please Note: Although we are happy to provide complimentary valuations for items that we consider appropriate for sale in one of our auctions, we regretfully are unable to provide auction estimates for items which differ in value or type from those customarily offered at Freeman's.
If our specialists consider your item/s appropriate for sale at Freeman's, your initial valuation is complimentary. Please note, however, that we are unable to provide valuations for items that fall below our minimum value threshold or into a collecting area typically not offered by Freeman's. All auction estimates are also subject to revision pending firsthand inspection and further research by our specialists.
If you are satisfied with your auction estimate, proposed consignment terms, and proposed sale date, our staff will draft a consignment document for your review, signature, and return. Once we have received your signed agreement, we can proceed with organizing the shipment or drop-off of your item at our offices.
Your specialist will present you with your specific terms of consignment, which may come in the form of a percentage of the hammer price of your consigned item in the event that the item sells at auction.
Freeman's may be able put you in touch with trusted shippers in your area who will be able to assist with the safe shipment of your item. You are also welcome to arrange shipment to our Loading Dock. For assistance or more information about coordinating a shipment or drop-off at our offices, please visit our Shipping page.
Please note that charges, taxes, and import duties might apply if you are shipping items internationally. You are still responsible for complying with all relevant regulations that may apply when shipping items to Freeman's for sale. We encourage you to inquire with a professional if you feel that such regulations may apply to your items.
Once received, our staff will diligently catalogue, photograph, and market your item internationally to ensure the best possible selling price at auction. Prior to the respective sale, the consignor will receive a notification from Freeman's detailing the item's lot number in the sale, while also reaffirming its estimate and reserve.
Settlement from sold items will be issued 35 calendar days following the conclusion of the respective auction, less the agreed-upon commission and other related fees. Settlement is issued in the form of a mailed paper cheque, unless another form of payment is preferred and expressed by the consignor. This payment is always pending the receipt of funds by Freeman's from the buyer of the item as well as confirmed receipt of all required paperwork.
Approximately 3 weeks prior to each auction, the full catalogue will be available to view in our list of Upcoming Auctions, which will provide an option to view the auction live once it has started.
Pending the conclusion of the auction, the respective Department associated with your consignment will provide further options based on several factors, such as bidding activity or pre-sale interest.
